Getting ITB Therapy

Proven safe and effective, ITB Therapy is surgically implanted and delivers medication around the clock, directly where it can have the biggest impact on your severe spasticity. There are many ways a test-dose is performed unique to the ITB centre and may include repeated single injections through a needle directly into the intrathecal space or the surgical implant of a catheter through which injections can be made.

Is It Right For You?

Your doctor will consider many factors including your symptoms, goals, body mass, and results of a screening test. Once a positive effect is seen on the spasticity a thorough discussion between the patient, parent and medical team will determine whether ITB Therapy is the right option to proceed to pump implantation.

Surgery: What to Expect

On average, the surgery to implant the ITB Therapy takes about 1 to 2 hours from start to finish. Your doctor can answer any questions you may have about the procedure.
