With relief from debilitating vertigo, Meniett® therapy from Medtronic can help you get your life back. And most people who use Meniett therapy experience no side effects. Of course, every patient is different, so talk with your doctor and follow your treatment plan.
After the ventilation tube (vent tube) procedure, you’ll be monitored in the recovery room for about an hour. You can usually go home after that if all goes well. You’ll have little or no pain but may feel a little groggy if you’ve been given an anaesthetic.
Your ENT or ear specialist will give you specific instructions about how to live with your vent tube, including when you should get immediate attention and when to schedule follow-up appointments. He or she may also prescribe antibiotic ear drops for a few days.
To reduce the chances of bacteria getting into the ear through the vent tube, it’s a good idea to keep your ears dry by using earplugs when you’re bathing, showering, or swimming, especially if you plan on swimming in untreated water such as a lake or river.
Your doctor will tell you when to begin using your Meniett® device after your vent tube procedure. Your Meniett device is easy to use. Just remember to perform your treatments exactly as prescribed. It takes just a few minutes every day. You should begin to notice that your dizziness or vertigo symptoms are less severe and less frequent within about 5 to 6 weeks. It’s very important that you don’t skip any treatments, especially in the first couple of months that you begin Meniett therapy.
The Meniett device is small, lightweight, and completely portable. Your Meniett device is about 10 centimetres by 15 centimetres. It has a carrying case with a convenient shoulder strap, so it’s easy to take with you wherever you go. The Meniett device is ready to use anytime, day or night, thanks to its rechargeable batteries and portable battery charger.
