The CG Future Composite ring may be used to restore your mitral valve annulus to its proper dimensions.
The opening of a normal mitral valve is basically kidney-shaped. The rim of the opening is called the annulus. In some diseased mitral valves it loses its shape, becoming more circular than kidney-shaped. When this happens, the mitral valve can't close the way it should and blood flows backwards into the left atrium.1 The semi-rigid CG Future® Annuloplasty System is used to restore the annulus to its proper size and shape.
A CG Future annuloplasty ring or band is placed on the annulus of the mitral valve, which controls the flow of blood from your heart's left atrium to the left ventricle.
CG Future rings and bands are stiff enough to restore the shape of the mitral valve annulus, yet they're flexible enough to allow natural movement of the annulus as the heart beats.
