For the fourth year in a row, Medtronic UK & Ireland has been awarded in the top 100 of the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For survey. Like last year, Medtronic received the highest score (89%) in the list for employees believing their company makes a positive difference to the world, which is testimony to the Medtronic mission to "Alleviate pain, restore health and extend life" that underlies all aspects of work at Medtronic.
Additionally, 91% of employees said they go out of their way to provide good service and that 85% are proud to work for Medtronic and that the job is important to them (82%). The ranking is part of the Best Companies Accreditation scheme which surveys over 275,000 employees from 1,100 companies. The accreditation scheme provides a rigorous benchmark so that companies can strive to become better employers. Using the feedback from last year’s the company focused on areas where we can improve including offering more development opportunities and working on achieving an environment where all employees are treated equally regardless of business, role or level.
Over 75% of Medtronic employees took the opportunity to provide their views on the company by responding to the Best Companies survey. The survey measured employee engagement by asking questions covering the following eight themes: Leadership, Well Being, My Manager, My Team, My Company, Personal Growth, Giving Something Back and Fair Deal. Medtronic performed consistently in all these areas and improved in all except My Company and Well Being which remained at the same high level as last year. My Company again was the highest scoring category with employees believing they can make a valuable contribution to the success of Medtronic and feeling proud to work there.
